So! It's been a little while since I've posted anything. Not because I've been slacking I promise.
I have been very busy and life has been crazy and this is the first chance I've had to sit
and write and post. So today I will be setting up several posts and then I'll post them so
they'll be spread out. So here goes the first!

First, A few weeks ago I received the VegTrug I ordered
from Garden Supply Co.
I have been looking for a waist high garden bed that was
deep enough to plant anything I want in it. The VegTrug
advertised this and was the best price I've found for
something like this, plus it came with a greenhouse cover and insect cover and the frame
to support them so I just had to give it a shot. It also didn't hurt that you could pay
for it in payments and they send the table right away so no waiting to start gardening
while you pay it off!

I had to wait a week to put it together. I was not happy
about this but work and the weather were against me
so not much I could do.
Then one day, having completed work on a day I had a
very early shift, I came home and had a lot of energy
still so I got to work. I drug the box down to our parking area and started pulling
everything out and started putting things together after a quick run through of the
instructions. It was as easy as advertised.

It took me about four hours to put together.
It only took so long because I did take a few breaks. As
I said I had just gotten home from work and I had
lifted a lot of mulch and pots and soil and other
heavy items. I also had to figure out to how to make
bits stand as I put it together as I was by my self. I had a handy stool to act as my
spare hands. Plus a few neighbors came by to chat!
Finally, though, I got it done! I was very proud of myself I must say!

There were a few problems putting it together. Boards not quite long enough, screw
holes not exactly where it meets the board. A crack that worries me a little in one or
two boards and one end panel is short on both sides.
It was not bad enough that I could not do a fix myself. They supplied a few spare
screws and I used them to adapt and make sure problem areas were secure.
Once finished, I put in the liner that was included and put it in place.

I planted it with salad greens, carrots, onions, parsnips,
radish, and turnips last Sunday. Then, of course, we had
a big storm and drop in temperature so I set up
the frame and greenhouse cover.
Since it was raining and very windy as I was doing this
and I didn't attach the frame to the bed as it should be, (my fingers were numb from
the cold rain and wind), I just secured the frame and cover with twine.

In less than a week I had sprouts!
I've kept the cover on as we've had a few nights with a
low temperature. I've watered everyday and with in a
few days several of the greens and the radish and
turnips started sprouting and the onions are starting to
grow. I did a major happy dance and told everyone one I know! :D
In my next post I will give a new update on the growth of the bed and some other things
I've planted. I'll also show you some other things I did a little different this year in my
planting. I hope you'll keep coming back and check on my garden and the crafts I add.
See you soon!
